A GREETING.
[Van the mist to the mist, On the morn of the year, O’er the gulf of white silence!—You there and I here! I have sent a pale .--hip To the ports of the sea, And light was her lading As gossamers be. But the sweet winds of heaven Her -sails have endowed, A.? she were a galleon Freighted and proud. And, the lords of the heavens Have made heir a place Where the queens of the ocean Have anchored in grace. Rich gold of the rainbow, Pure pearl of the s-ea, Fc-r her gc-s-sam-exs’ worth She has brought unto me. She had sailed not, my -ship—Nbt for many a tide,— Nor found the fair heavens Where , galleons ride,, But that one from the mist Had unmoored her by night On the moon-loving sea Lying silv-erly white. If she could, if she might, At your do-m: she would lay Her gold of tbs rainbow, Her pearls of tho bay. Ualifted the mist And uncharted the sea! To the offing of dreams The highway is free. To the offing of dreams, Night, noon, and brave morn, She would bring you elf-gold For the year that is born. Ja-nuary 3. —Eona.
