ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET CHRISTCHURCH, January 12. There were good entries of stock and a large attendance. Store sheep were without change. Fat lambs were firmer, and fat sheep, especially wethers, sold well. Fat cattle were easier, and pigs were in very moderate demand.' There was a fair demand for store and dairy cattle. There was a small entry of store sheep, made up of wethers and lambs. There was a fair demand, especially for wethers in good condition and rape lambs. Wethers (four and six-tooth) made 11s Id to 12 s 6d, best rape lambs 9s 3d, and lighter 6s 7d to 7s 3d. There was an entry of 730 fat lambs, of which a good proportion was not well finished. There was good competition for export, and a clearance was effected at prices about 6cl per head in advance of last week’s rates. Heavy weights and tegs made 12s fid to 14s, average freezers 10s 6d to 12s Gd, and a few lighter lambs 9s 2d to 10s, lower-priced lot being taken by a grazier. There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep, of which the bulk was wethers. Several export buyers were operating, and took a. large number of medium-weight wethers at prices ranging from 14s to 14s 6d, and all through the sale wethers were firm. For ewes there was a good demand at last week’s prices, until butchers had filled their requirements, and then they became more dull of sale. The range of prices was Prime wethers 14s 6d to 17s, lighter 13s 2d to, 14s, prime ewes 11s 6d to 13s 6d, oxtrx to 15s 3d, others 8s Cd to 11s, merino wethers 9s 2d. The yarding of fat cattle totalled 29G head, including some very prime quality steers and heifers. There,..was a fair demand, but prices were a shade easier in consequence of the large yarding. Steers made £0 11s to £ll, heifers £5 12s Gd to £8 10s, and cows £6 to £6 10s—equal to 20s to 21s Cd for prime, 18s 6d to 19s Gd for medium, and 17s to 18s for cow and inferior beef per 100 Tb. CENTRAL. PRODUCE MART (LIMITED). Report for week ending Saturday, the loth January, 1910;—During the past week supplies of Teviot fruits have been only sufficient to meet immediate demands. Tomatoes have been in full supply, and prices have ■eased in consequence. Apricots and plums have come forward more freely, and for these a good demand has been experienced. Choice dessert peaches have been short of requireid carts, and for some very fine peaches in crates (consigned by Messrs Howden and Moncrieff) we secured 7id per lb, and other lines of fine peaches realised very good prices.' Raspberries have been short of requirements, "and we secured up to 6d per lb for choice Outram rasps. Strawberries, strands to say, have given one of our consignors (Messrs J. Hunt and Sons. Waimate) a second crop of splendid fruit. We received four crates to-day, and for these we secured the handsome price of la ‘ld por lb. Black and red currants have been short of requirements, and very high prices have been ruling for sound fruit. Vegetables have bad a fair demand. Potatoes have been coming to hand freely, and prices have com® back with a run. We advise growers to hold in ■ the meantime. Onions from Melbourne have a steady sale. Eggs have been arriving in sufficient quantities to meet local requirements, and prices are steady. Poultry ere short of requirements, and all good table birds are eagerly competed for. Sydney oranges; Choice re-packs, 12s 6d to 14s for Imperials; Lemons', 10s fid. Californian oranges, 22s fid for prime navels; others, 15s to 17s fid for large cases. Messeua Lemons, 15s. Bananas : We expect 500 cases of choice Rarotongans on Monday next, and these should realise from 6s to Bs. Ripe bananas, 2Jd. Coconuts, 10s to 11s per siack. Vegetables: Rhubarb in poor demand at 5s per cwt. Green peas; Early in the week Ijd was the ruling price for prime samples, but being in short supply, to-day they realised up to 2d per lb. Cabbage, Is to Is 3d per Cozen. Cauliower, Is 9d to 2s fid per dozen. Lettuce, fid to Is per dozen. Potatoes in excess of requirements, and, being green, cannot be held.
