FIRST GRADE. DUNEDIN v. ALBION.

This match was continued on the Caledonian Ground on Saturday, when Albion, with seven wickets down for 120, resumed their innings, the not-outs being Drake (40) and Hiddleaton (20). Only seven runs had been added when Hiddltaron put his 111 front of a straight ono from Muckersy and retired. The nuitneiship realised 67 I run", and was a particularly useful one for Albion. Cummings was next, and the score wa-s taken to 144 when the la«t comer was bowled by a short one from Torrance, which kept very low and rcarlo pace. Mille was sniaitiy "taken in the s>hp.' by Kavanagh th 3 same o\tr, and tho ii.nings closed for 14"r. Torranco came out with good figures, and used a little more judgment than usual. C. G. Wilson took Cavanagh in with him to open the Dunedin innings, but the colt succumbed to the Sydney- bowler, Wordsworth, after making 3. Eclchold, who followed, was well taken at square leg in trying to p-c-t a «»hort one to the boundary, while J. Wilkie, after makinpr a eingla, played one on to his wicket with just sufficient force to dislodge a bail. Three wickets were down for 33 when Mackerey joined hi* skipper, who had been bu^y getting in some nice hits, mostly to tho boundary. This pair looked like ttaj ing, and took the score along steadily until Vorreth went on to bowl; then hits to and over the fence wero freauent. until Mack y ers — w ho had previously been missed off a ek'ier by Anderson— was beautifully taken, on the asphalt track by Strang. Mackersy and Wilson had added 60 n.-ns in quick time, and put Dunedin well on the road to ' wjnning the match. Graham dragged one J from well outride the off stick into hie , wk'ket, and made way for W. Haig, who wa^ making his first appearance in Senior cricket.
