AUSTRALIAN VITAL STATISTICS
SYDNEY, August 16. The Commonwealth vital statistics for last year show that 119,347 births were registered. This is the highest ever attained.
The illegitimate birth rate is equivalent to 6.15 per cent, of the total, whioh is slightly lower than the rate for the previous three years.
The rate is the highest for 20 years.
The deaths numbered 45,305, equivalent to 10.90 per 1000. The deaths of children under one year were equal to 81.06 per thousand births. The fleaths included 23 centenarians, of whom 13 were males and 10 females.
