George Francis Gregg (South Dunedin) and his wife. — Chum . s£9Q Is, for -goods sold to Mra Gregg, or, in 1 the altsina.ti.ve, if the court held that Mr j I Gregg was not liable, that judgment be ; I given, agwrnst Mrs Gregg. — Mr Wilkinson i appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Alexander S. j i Atfeune for Mr Gregg. — The particulars- were that Mrs Gregg, before -her marriage, went j to an auction sale and purchased goods to 'the value of £90 Is, and requested that they should be put down to Mr Gregg, whom she very shortly after married. Next day s!ho ; called with another person., inspected the I goods, and said' they w«re too deal, and ttiat , she had no nwney to pay, and could not I pay for them. The plaintiffs subsequently | sued her. They believ«d she- had 'been | authorised by her husband to purchase the j I furniture on his account, so sued him also. — | ' Both defendants denied that there had been | . any auAhority given or received, and tbo magistrate suggested to counsel engaged to , endeavour to come to come understanding. — i i Mr Wilkinson said that owing to the difii- j culty of enforcing judgment against a ' married wgman without any separate estate ' ' he would discontinue the aetiaa. — Mr Adams j made no olaim for costs, and 'the case was | I discontinued.
