MATAWHERO STOCK SALE. GISBORNE, January 9.
At the Matawhero stock sale the range of prices was:—Fart wethers., 12s 6d to 16s; fat ewes, 12s to 14s 6d; stores, Ss to lls 6d; fat lambs, 10s. 8d to, 12s Id; fat steers, £5 to £8; fat cows, £3 5s to £5 ss; store steers, £2 10s to £3 7s 6d; store heifers, £1 to £% .' 10a The sale was dull for every class of stock, which is probably accounted for by tho dry weather and the scarcity of feed. EVANSDALE STOCK SALE. Messrs Stronach, Morris, and Co. (Ltd.) report having held their' usual sale at the ' yards, Evansaale, on Friday, 10th when they yarded 157 head of cattle, consisting of all classes-. There was a large attendance of the "farmers in the district, and buyers from Peninsula, Palmersfcon, Halfway Bush, and Dunedin. The cattle on the whole were in good condition, bub did not elicit the competition
- anticipated, and prices all round showed a' drop of'los per head as compared with last sale at centre. The following are a few of the prices obtained:'—Cows close to profit, £5 10s, £4 ss, £4, £3 17a 6d to £3 10s; .three-year-old steers, '£4 3s 6d~; two-year-old 80. £2 xoa; ys«ii.xigs, si to £1 Ws; boners, £2 10s to £1 10s; old cows, 20s; bulls, £5 10s, £3 10s, to £2 10s; calves, 10s to 15s.
