The tributors of tho Greenstone .Junction dredge are effecting repairs, but expect to find the dredge at work in a weak. August 27. Last week was ah ideal one for dredging, but the returns, with the exception of the Pactolus Company's, are on the poor side. Pacfolus shares^, have hardened considerably, and cannot now be had under 40s, which is a rise of nearly 10s on previous quotations. Bignell's !No Towns have eased of late, and find sellers at 14s. The New Trafalgar dredge has been getting i payable yields, with prospects of considerable improvement. Shares have hardened, and are now quoted at 18s. This dredge has in opening been hampered with tailings, but this difficulty has now been practically got over. j The Pactolus Company obtained 1390z-13dwt-l for both dredges. The wash remains unchanged, while the material now in the face would indicate a, continuance o£ present jrields. The No* Town Creek dredge washed up" 370z. . The wash continues about the 'same. Callaghan's Creek dredg© obtained 260z for 130 hours, and -the Slab Hut Creek dredge 19oz lOdwt for 119 hours. No material alteration lias taken place in either claim, though if the present dry and cold weather continues the Jatfcer will suffer from shortage of water. The Janiieson's Reward dredge got 15oz lOdwt. The dredge put in full time, but is apparently off the run of gold. An attempt will be made this week to trace the direction cf the lead. The Reeves's Proprietary Company secured SOoz 15dwt for 113 hours. The wash has of late improved, and is now softer and easier of treatment. The Welcome dredge machinery is being dismantled and sold in lots. |
