Notes from Reefton.
(Fkoh Oue. O\to Correspondent.) REEFTON, August 26. The Alpine Company's, mine manager reports: — " Stoping on the intermediate stone •was stopped on Monday owing to the battery proving it unpayable ; 284 tons have been gent to the battery. The crosscut has been started Soft down the old incline shaft from No. 7, and will be driven about 40ft east to cut a track, an which stone may have made." August 28. The return from the New Feddersen dredge 3ast week was 29Joz amalgam for 90 hours' iflredging. The ground is improving, and Better returns are expected. Tho return from the Keep-it-Dark mine for &he month of August was as follows: — Battery, 2020 tons crushed, yielding 2670z 18dwt; fcyanide, I2ooz 7dwt; — total, 388oz sdwt. | The trial crushing- of stome discovered at IBoatman's recently went over lOoz to the ton. (No fresh developments are reported.
