PENINSULA.
May 5. — The- regular meeting of the Road Board, held on Saturday, was attended by Mc-ssrs M'Curdy. Walker, Riddell, Cowen, and Reekie. Mr M'Curdy was voted to the chnir in the absence of Mr Ross. The following offices •were filled ior 'the ensuing year: — Chairman, Mr M'Curdy ; treasurer, Mr Cowen : to countersign cheques, Mr Reekie. The following ten-df-rs were accepted: — 50 yards of metal for Shaw's road, 4,s 3d, John' West-fold-. Cutting and filling-in on Sandymount road near Mr Weiper's gale, £18 15s. M. H. Nyhon ; he also to supply 50yds of metal at 3s per yard. Cutting and fiUing-in on Main road near Mr M'Grcgor's, Sandymount, £'68 15s, James Garr. It was resolved to invite tenders for 150 yards of metal •for cutting on Main road. TKe clerk was instructed to write to Mr Nyhon requesting him to cut trees overhanging the Camp road before the 18th inst. The price for horse and dray labour was fixed for the ensuing year as follows:—On© horse and dray, 10s per day; tv.-o horses and- dray, 14s per dny. Mr Reekie urged the necessity for widen intr. the road leading from the- Main rood to Anderson's Bpv School. It was decided that the financial position does not warrant the board proceeding with the work. The clerk was instructed to write to the owner of land adjoining to ascertain the cost of land 10ft by 200 yards. The clerk was instructed to publicly notify that the board intended at next meeting, to be holden on Saturday, June 7, to make a general ra-te of three farthings in the pound on all rateable properly •within tho Peninsula- Toad district. Mr John Bishop was appointed collector. Mr John Riddell tendered his resignation as member for Sundymount Subdivision. The clerk was authorised to publicly notify the exrtaordlnary vacancy. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £37 2s 2d.
