LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held at the Land Office on Wednesday, was attended l>y the Chief Commissioner (Mr D. Barrorr) and Messrs Clark, Dal'u*., Duncan, and Kirkpatxick. M. A. Norman applied fcr a right to occupy section 2, block XIII, Lower Wanaka district. — Declined ; rangei to value section.

Ranger Atkinson reported on the application ■by Donald Chalmers for a license to occupy two and a-half acre? in Diggers' Gully, block 2£, Kurow district - Application declined.

The application by J. H. Waigth for a license to occupy sections 19, 25, and 26, block XVII, Town of Roxburgh, was granted at a. rental of 20s per acre.

Donald M'Lean applied for a right to occupy the reserve along Sowburn Creek, fronting sections 24 and 25, block I, Upper Taieri district. — Declined.

' Daniel Williamson applied to exchange his occupation license No. 23 orer four acies m iblock V, Cromwell district, for a lease m perpetuity.—Declined.

Joseph and William Gwyn applied to purchase bush reserve, section 22, block IV, Woodland district. — Declined.

Ranger Mackenzie forwarded a report on JJun No. 384, Nevis, and also a valuation of the improvements thereon —Run to be offered for a. term of 10 years, at a rental of £50 per annum, .-with valuation for improvements £215. Ranger Hughan reported on the application by the Tuapeka County Council to have aii area of about 40 acres on Run No. 140b, Glenkemch district, set aside as a gravel reserve. — Held over till expiiation of lease.

Ranger Atkinson forwarded a report on the following sections in the Town of Puralianui :— Section 41, block 11, upset £10 per acre; section 19, block 11, up»et £6 per acre; sections 3, 4, and 5, block H, Aipset £8 per acre; sections 1 to 25, block 111, ■upset JBIO per acre; sections 35 to 41, block •111, opset £12 per acre; sections 58 to 65, 71, iilock 111, upset £10 per acre; sections 70, 72, 74, block 111, upset £9 per acre ; sections 75, "76, 77, block 111, upset £8 per acre; sections 87, 38, 39, 41, 45 to 49, block I, upset £8 per acre; sections 66, 67, 69, block 111, upset £9 per acre.

The board authorised the Receiver of Land ■Hevejiue to pay over the amount received a^ valuation for improvements on Run 17a and eection 1, block VTII, Dompt district, to the person entitled to receive the same, on the production of letters of administration.

Anderson Bros, applied for a temporary grazing right over section 21, Vock XIII, and tbo cultivated paddock on section 5, block XIV, Pomahaka Downs estate. — Temporary license granted to 31st May at £10. The board was requested to determine as to liow section 6, block V, Woodland district, open for application but not yet taken up, should be dealt with. — Ranger to vplue land and improvements.

The following applications io transfer were «pproved : —James Scott to Julia Short— Lease an perpetuity 631, sections 9 and 10, block XVT, Slackstone district; do 632, sections 2 and 4, block XVI, do; do 633, section 11. block XVI. «o ; do 915, section 8, block XVI, do ; deferred payment 402, section 7, block 11, Poolburn William James Anderson applied for section 4, block IX, Tarras district, on lease in perpetuity. — Approved.

The following applicatiors to -f-ans.'er were approved : —Perpetual lease 893, village pcttleanent, George Page to Mrs Rachael Innes Page, section 11, block VIII, CatlinE district: lease in perpetuity 10725, J. O. Pnngle to Hewson IFinlinson and John Hewson Finlinsoi;, section 22a, Elderslie settlement.

> A memo, from the Under-seeretary intimating Ahat the capital values fixed for "sections 36 ■block VI, and 12, block VIII, Woodland district, are not sufficient to cover the interest of ths loading upon the said sections, and that Che values have been increased to 8s and 10s 6d per acre respectively, was received.

John Harley applied for an occupation lease over 100 acres of unsurveyed land in block I, St. Bathans district. — Declined, in accordance with warden's report.

The following applications to transfer wptc approved, subject to Minister's cor sent — John A. Donnell to Thomas Duffy, section 10, block VIII, Tokarahi estate ; also section 10a, same block ; William Forrester to J. O'Donnell, section 49, block VII, Tokarahi es'ate; James Harrison to J.
