SOUTHLAND GRAIN MARKET. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
INVERCARGILL, April 19.
Wheat. — The local millers are the only buyers for wheat, and prices are ruling for prime milling at 2s 3d; fowls' wheat, Is 9d.
Oats. — Owing no doubt to the bad weather ihe offerings for the last week have been small. Price.? have eased slightly, and show s ten'lency to decline still further. Milling sorts are quoted at from Is l£d to Is 2d at country siding-^ short feed, Is to Is Id; Duns scarce, 3s 3d to Is 2d. At these prices farmers display no anxiety to sell, and a great many oats are being kept in the stack and stored on growers' account
. Barley. — Malthig,*2s 3d; milling, Is 9cl to 2s; feed sorts unsaleable, nominal quotation, Is 6(3 .• \
Chaff.— £2 to £2 2s" Gd a ton delivered at Invercargill ; only being bought for local consumption. No demand for shipment. Potatoes. — Buyers only operating for a hand-to-mouth trade. To-day^ price, 27s 6d to 30s per ton in store.
Ryegrass. — A good many lots have been offered during the week, but buyers are very much disinclined to stock up, as there is no prospect of a demand for some time. Prices to-day are from Is 2d to Is 4d, on trucks.
Cocksfoot. — Farmers' dressed,- from 2d to 3d per lb.
