Second Day— Thursday.

There was again a large attendance on Thursday at the Otago Agricultural and P.astoral Society's wiater chow which in the Agricultural Hall. In the evening the hall wss crowded, and it is estimated that fully 5000 mast have attended during the afternoon and evening.

In the section of the show set apart for hams and bacon there are 34 entries. The smoked hams and sides exhibited are remarkably good — indeed it would be difficult to beat them anywhere. The bacon, on the whola, is, however, not up to the mark, and the judges were very disappointed with the quality. The farmers' green hams and bacon are also not nearly so good as might have been expected. In fact, they are of very inferior quality.

In the fruit and honey sections- of the show there are 12 entries, but, strange to say, there are no exhibits of fruit ; while it is rather surprising to zee eggs bhown in the section, There are only two entries of honey, but the quality of the exhibits it very good. In eggs thera is good competition, and the first prize exhibit is remarkable on account of the size of the eggs, wbich are exceedingly large.

The exhibits in the bread and dressed poultry sections of the show are, on the whole, a very creditable lot. The collection of bread and scones is, in the opinion of the judges, an excellent one ; while the dressed poultry and ducks are exceedingly fiae. Miss B. Qain, of Tapanui, who took fleet prize for two homemade loave3 against 13 other competitors, was easily first ; and Miss Charters, in carrying off the first and second awards for half a dozen home-mide scones in the face of keen competition, only repeated her success at former shows. Mr Reilly, of Studholme, managed to take the three awards for the best pair of fowls of any breed, and there can be no doubt that he de served thens, bis exhibits being excellent. The first and sscond prize pair of ducks, exhibited by Mis* Gow, of West Taisri, are also splendid exhibits.
