MACRAES.

May 30.— We had our first full of snow for the Beason on the 28th. and it was driven onwards by abitterly cold south-west wind, butnot much snow fell. Previcius 101 0 the snow the weather was very mild, and ploughing was being carried on vigorously. Dredging. — The Macraes Dredging Company started operations some time ago, and having prospected the ground held by them, under lease, they found it satisfactory. They are now awaiting machinery from Home, and intend starting in earnest in the spring. Bone-mill.— Mr A. Simpson has erected a bonemill for making bonedust manure. The maehineijr was all made and erected by himself, and is driven by water power. The bouedust is somewhat coarser than usual, but it has the advantage ot being pure, nothing but clean bones being crushed, and I understand Mr Simpson has large" orders booked for the coming season.

The Rabbit Industry. — Blr Sullivan has an agency here for packing' rabbits for freezing, and the hands appear to be kept busy, and a good many cases are going away by waggon to Dunback, thence by rail to Oamaru.

■Social. -On dit that the local branch of the Presbyterian body intends to have a social re-union shortly, and if they lip the clerk of the weather and secure a good night it is bound to be a success. I understand that plenty of outside talent is already promised fot the occasion, aud we shall have au intellectual treat such as far too seldom comes our way.
