Within the last few months Mr David Williams, of Liverpool, bequeathed £1000 to the Bible Society, to which he and his mother h*d been subscribers for 82 years. 4. On the Ist May last I appealed through your paper to sympathetic friends for 400 or 500 Bibles for the uae of the young people who attend our Bible reading clauses ia certain of tb.B City State schools. The response has been both hearty and liberal. Through the kindness of private friends and a large grant from the Ofcago Bible Society I am now in % position to put 100 copies of the Scriptures in each of four echoolß. He was under the hallucination that two men — one oE them a doctor — had a mesmeric influence over him, and that he was completely at their mercy. He declared that they had followed him from Napier to Auckland, whither ho journeyed on foot to escape them, and retained by the King Country to Napier and shipped from there to the Coast.
