Mr Munro (who is one of the best i Gaelic speakers in the society, though on this occasion he spoke in English) sincerely thanked the members for the honour conferred on him, aud hoped the society would continue to flourish under his presidency for the ensuing year. Shortly the annual gathering would again demand their attention, and he believed nothing short of the Agricultural Hall would be required for the occasion. The concert programme was not so loug as usual, but the songs contributed were specially enjoyable; the .siugera being Mrs J. M'Donald, Miss Murray, MiBS Bunce, Mis 3 Beattie, Miss M'Donald, Messrs D. Matheson, Malcolm M'Donald, and A. Smith. The pipers were Pipe-major M'Kechnie aud Mr Alexander Murray. A new American cable, which is to bs laid in the nest few months across the Atlantic, is ' being manufactured at Calais.
