Aprilß —The monthly meeting of the Peninsula Road Board, held at Highcliffi on Saturday, was attended by Messrs Stewart (chairmm). Fairbaira, M'Ourdy, Rowe, Murray, and Davis. Mr D. Gunn app.'ared in support of a petition, to have the pinch, in jfche road, on ,the other si !e of Weiper's Gully improved. In the course of the discussion that folio we J, Mr Davis, referring to the hilly nature of the district, pithily remarked that it was a pity Sandymount was not laid down when it was scft. Final settlement of the matter wa3 deferred till next meeting, the Chairman in the meantime to have full power to act. It was reported that the tender of Messrs Austin and PorterfMd for road formation at the lulet for £33 8s 6d had been accepted, and it was resolved to accept the offer of carting at per day of— Will am Kirkwood, one horse and one dray, Bfl ; two horses and one dray, lls ; and of J. Westfold, at 7s 6d and 1(K The clerk was instructed to give final notice to those offending by allowing hedges and trees to grow out over the street liae. Accounts for £16 16N were passed for payment. Consideration of the best means of appealing to the settlers for contributions to the Brunnerton relief fund resulted in the chairman being asked to place himself in communication with the school committeea, aud to use all the meansjie may think necessary to have a thorough canvass of the district made. Owing to the surveyor being out of town, the matter of Mitchell's road is still in abeyance.
