November 23.— The annual examination of our school took place lately, the result being a very satisfactory pass, which must be gratifying to scholars aud teachers alike.

Matrimonial —A quiet wedding was celebrated here recent'y, the contracting parties being Mr N. Gcrken and Miss Forbes, who are both well known iti the district. The marriage took place at the residence of the brid/s mother, and Mrs Forbes entertained a lirge wedding party in the Otatna Hall in the evening. The bride received numerous and useful presents. Musical - A concert was held in the hall here on the 22nd in aid of the hall funds. The weather was very cold and threatening, but there was a fair attendance. The Ofcaina Brass Band played a few airs outside, and also opened the concert. Mr T. Logan made nn efficient chairman. Mr Carroll, who was first on the programme, eang " I'm going to be a profajfcional, ' and received an encore. Mr Wilson followed with " Two littl-j girls in blue," and was encored. A dm;t by Mibsss Buchanan and Millar— "Flow on. thcu shining river "—was faiily well rendered Mr Robgon gave a step dance, and Mr M'lntyre Ming "The white squall," receiving an encore. Miss Millar sang "The gates of the west," and was recalled. Crops —The very wet weather we have been experiencing lately ia retarding the progress of the crop*, aud grass is very backward. .Shearing has begun on some of the farms, but is not general yet. I notice some drilled turnips sown, but the weather is keeping everything behind. Some hot, warm days are much required to bring things on now.
