May 13.— A meeting of the mf dical delegates representinc the various pirts of the Owak« district was held in the teho -lhouseon ftfouday, 29th ulr. Reports were given in, after which it was agreed that it is inexpedient to proceed further in the meantime, as the project had not received sufficient support. Mauy of the settlers were in favour of a doctor being secured by the committee, and promised to pay their, subset iptions to the guarantee fund so soon as the doctor should be settled in the district. This course would, however, have made the conimitte° financially responsible to the doctor for the whole amount. Ecclksiastical.— A service of song, ' The Pilgrim's Progress," wai given in the Owaka Presbyterian Church by the choir The night was rough, and the attendance coosequeutly suffered. Miss E. Dutton ably presided at the organ, while Mr Samuel Young efficiently conducted. Jhe singing was very good. Rev. W. G. M'Laren presided, and undertook the connective reading/. — On Sunday, 12th >nst., united missionary meetings ■were held at Owaka. Wis3es Bavin and Young, of the China Inlaid Mi-jtion, delivered highly Interesting addresses in the morning in »he Baptist Chapel, and in the evening in the Presbyterian Church. Mrs Dick ako gave an interesting address on mission work in India, at 2.30 pm. in the Piesbyteriau Church. The weather was very unfavourable, but notwithstanding this the attendance was surprisingly good.
