GRAIN REPORT.

Messrs William E. Reynolds and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending July 4, 1894, as follows :— Wheat.— Really good velvet remains in good demand, but prices show no improvement. We have inquiries for choice lines and will be pleased to receive samples. Medium quality is slow of sale, and millers do not care about purchasing it as they are fairly well stocked with same. Fowls' feed is in good request at up to 2s 6d, market very scarce. We quote : Extra choice old velvet up to 3s ; prime, 2a lOd (old), 2s lOd (new) ; good medium, 2s 8d to 28 9d ; ordinary, 2s 5d to 2s 6d. Oats.— These show a little more animation this week, but quotation prices are very difficult to obtain. Sales are limited and buyers scarce. Prospects do not look over bright but we do not fear any material fall in prices at present and look to next month increasing the demand. We think the present position of our markets is due to the scarcity of money throughout the- colony, but we now lo k for a little more life, as money will probably become easier, and speculators will operate more freely. The demand locally is restricted and the consumption small. We quote : Prime milling, up to Is s}d ; extra good feed, Is sd ; good medium, Is 4d to Is 4Jd ; ordinary, Is 3d to Is 3id. Chaff. — Plentiful supply of all qualities excepting prime, which is worth from £2 10s to £2 12s 6d ; good, £2 to £3 sa.

Potatoes. — Very heavy supplies, and market very dull. We quote : Best, £2 2s 6d to £2 5s : medium, £1 15s to £2.
