WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Muaars Mouitzson and Hopkin, millers, grain, groducc, aud commiesion agents. Manse strest, lunedin, report (wholesale) as follows for week ending July 4, 1894 :—: —
Wheat. — 'I he demand for prime quality is good. We can place all offering, but soft and second class sorts are neglected. Prime velvets (specially wanted), we quote 2s lid ; Tuscans and red chuff (if prime), same price. Second class wheat we quote from 2s 6d to 2s 7d. Chick feed : Good whole is scarce and wanted at from 2s 4d to 2s sd. Oats : The demand during the week -\vas fair, but prices offered are low and not acceptable to holders. We quote : Prime milling and best bright plump feed, Is 6d ; ordinary feed, Is 4d to Is 5d ; seed varieties, Is 7d — net, sacks extra. Barley : The demand is not heavy. We quote : r Prime malting, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; pearling, 2s 9d to 3s ; feed, from 2s to 2s 3d. Hops : Demand not active, 9d to lOd. Ryecorn : No demand. We quote (nominally), 2s 6d to 2s 9d, Pearl barley, £16. Oatmeal, £8 10s. Flour : Roller, £7 to £7 5s ; stone, £6 103. Bran, £2 sj. Pollard, £3 10s. Potatoes: Market fully supplied, £2 2s 6d to £2 7s 6d ; kidneys have inquiry. £3 to £3 5s as per quality. Chaff : The demand is good for best quality at £2 12s 6d to £2 17s 6d ; ordinary, 35s to 455. Clover and ryegrass : Hay (pressed lewt bales), £2 ss. Onions, .£l3. Linseed, .£lO to £12. Pigs : Prime bacon sizes, 4d ; others, 3d to 3Jd. Salt butter, 7d to 7id (nominally no demand) ; fresh, fair supply. Eggs : More plentiful, and falling. Bacon : Rolls, tia to 6£d ; sides, 6d to 6id ; hams, Bd. Cheese. Factory, 4'fo. to 5d ; Akaroa, 4d to 4Jd. Honey : Prime extracted, 4d to 4jd ; other quality, 3Jd. Ryegrass : Machined, 3s 9d to 4s 3d ; farmers' lots. 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Cocksfoot : We quote from 4d to (ijd, f.ob Lyttelton. Light cocksfoot for surface sowing, ljd ; shelled fog, ljd. Kainit, £5. Nitrate of so3a, £15. Standard phosphate, £6. We recommend kainit as a special remedy for rust and the grass grub. Pamphlets on application. We can supply a few Bruce potatoes for seed at 7s per cwt, and fluke kidney at £3 per ton.
