LOVE AND LIFE.

(Spring*) Sweet Love awoke in .the brightness Of a gay springtide morn, Of silvered silk her glist'ning dress, While pearis her brow adorn ; Sunbeams glanced on her sunny hair, Spring flowers bloomed around, Beauty and joy were everywhere When Love her wak'ning found. Young Life came spurring o'er the green, A stripling blythe and fair, With laughing face and gallant mem And not a thought of care. He whistled gaily to his hound, His notes rang bright and clear ; And so when Love her wak'ning found The youth came riding near. Their eyes first flashed in Btartled gaze, And then with wonder glowed, As Love and Life in lingering maze Went from the beaten road ; And hand in hand together strayed Across the jewelled mead, Life radiant by the blushing maid— Forgotten hound and steed. The skylark, poised on trembling wing, Poured forth hia gayest note ; 4 And full the bridal songs of spring Swelled from each feathered throat. "The future's bright," cried Life in glee !
