WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Messrs Moritzson and Hopkin, millers, grain, produce, and commission agents. Manse Btreet, Dunedin, report (wholesale) as follows for week ending June 20, 1894 :— Wheat.— The demand for prime quality is good, but soft and second class sorts are neglected but are offering plentifully. Prime velvets (specially wanted), we quote 23 lid ; Tuscans and red chaff (if prime), same price. Wo sold during the week some 500 sacks fairly good velvets at 2s lOd, and Tuscans of prime quality (last year's growing) at 2s lid ; second clbbs wheat we quote from 2s 6d to 2s 7d. During the week we Bold in all 1000 sacks. Chick feed : Good whole is scarce and wanted at from 2s 4d to 2s sd. Oats : The demand is not over brisk, no shippintr orders being to hand. We quote : Prime milling and best brighA plump feed, Is 6d to Is 6id ; ordinary feed. Is «d to Is sd ; seed varieties, Is 7d — net, sacks extra. Barley : The demand is not very heavy. We quote,: Prime malting, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; pearling, 23 9d to 3s ; feed, from 2s to 2s 3d. We sold three trucks of various grades during the week. Hops : Demand not active, 9d to lOd. Ryecorn : No demand. We quote (nominally), 2s 6d .to 2s 9d. Pearl barley, £18.! Oatmeal, £8 10s. Flour: Roller, £7 to £7 ss ; stone, £6 10s. Bran, £2 ss. Pollard, £3 10s. Potatoes: Market fully supplied, £2 7s 6d to £2 10s; kidneys have little inquiry, £2 15s to £3 5s as per quality. Chaff : The demand is good for best quality at £2 12s 6d to £2 17s 6d ; ordinary, 35s to 455. Clover and ryegrass : Hay (pressed lewt bales), £2 5s to £2 10s. Onions, £11 to £11 10s. Linseed, £10 to £12. Pigs : Prime bacon sizes, 4d; others, 3d to 3Jd. Salt butter (if prime quality in good demand), 7d to 7id ; fresh, fair supply. Eggs : More plentiful, and falling. Bacon : Rolls, (5d to 6Jd : sides, 6d to 6Jd ; hams, Bd. Cheese. Factory, 4?d to sd ; Akaroa, 4d to 4Jd. Honey : Prime extracted, 4d to 4Jd ; other quality, 3£d. Ryegrass : Machined, 3s 9d to 4s 3d ; farmers' lots, 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Cocksfoot : Stocks are now very low in the colony. We quote from 4d to 6Jd, f.o.b Lyttelton. We have now only some 1500 Backs left. Light cocksfoot for surface sowing, lid ; shelled fog, ljd. Kainit, £5. Nitrate of soda, £15. Standard phosphate, £6. We recommend kainit as a special remedy for rust and the grass grub. Pamphlets on application.
