OTAMA.
July 30.— Lambing has commenced on a few of the farms in this district, and the lambs are doing well. A slight growth can be noticed in the grass already. Turnips are lasting well, and stock are in good condition. The winter has been singularly free from frost until the last day or two, when it has set in rather severely. Ploughing, of course, is stopped, and farmers have no time to spare. All those who can manage it are preparing ground for wheat, the sowing of which will shortly begin. Many farms are changing hands in the vicinity. The owner of one estatein the district refused an ofFer of L 5 10s per acre for his property of 1100 acres.
