DUNBACK.
August I.— The annual concert and dance in. aid of the Dunbnck School funds was held in the schoolhouse on Friday last. The night was fine, and consequently the house was packed. It was. one of the most successful and enjoyable concerts' ever held here. Mr J. Ritchie occupied the chair,, and the concert was opened by a pianoforte duet by Mrs and Miss Randle, which was deservedly appreciated by all. Vocal selections (solos) weregiven during the evening by Messrs Randle, Hickey, and Jones, Mrs Mills, Misses Clarkson, Miscall, and Dalzell. A trio entitled " Three old maids of Lee," by Mrs Mills and Misses Walker and Miscall caused a good deal of amusements Mr M'Farlaue contributed an Irish recitation, and in respons-e to an undeniable encore he gavethe side-splitting "Essay on a Polecat." A, musical selection by Miss Miscall (piano) and. Messrs Wright (violin) and D'Ernee (piccolo) wasthe gem of the evening. Mr Hickey contributed two recitations, "The Fireman's Wedding" and "The Workhouse Story," in a very creditablemanner. The dance which followed was attendedby about 30 couples. Music was supplied by Mr A. Cooper (violin) assisted by Mr Dorwood.
