CROOKSTON.
May 12.— The unprecedented spell of dry weather for this season of the year has seentingly come to an end. the past few days being wet and chilly. The snow-clad summits of the Blue Mountains also remind vi of the advent of winter. Threshing is now almost completed, with satisfactory returns ; but owing to the low prices ruling for grain at pre^ sent, farmers iv this immediate neighbourhood prefer holding for some time pending an ndvancu in values. Potato lifting is pretty well finished. Few grow any more than what is required for home use. Stock throughout the district are in good condition,
and with plenty of winter feed at hand are likely to come out well In the spring. Rabbit Tinning. — The promoters of the proposed rabbit tinning factory at Heriofc are doing their Utmost to carry the projeot to a successful issue. They deserve credit for their endeavours in forwarding this scheme for the riddance of bunny. Health Note. — La grippe paid the district a visit, but very fewcautht the infection, and those who did, only in a mild form, the patients after a few days seeming to have been none the worse for it.
