TAPANUI. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
August 9fch. A Christy Minstrel entertainment, under the auspices of the Tapanui Brass Band, and in aid of the funds of the Athenian* and the band; was held in the Athenceum Hall on Friday, 6th Angußfc. The entertainment was hardly up to the average of similar entertainments that have been held in Tapanui, owing mainly to the inability of some of the performers. The man M'Ewan, who committed the robbery ,at the Prince of Wales Hotel some time ago, left Tapanui for Lawrence Gaol on Friday last in charge of Constable Young, where he will remain till the sitting of the District Court in September.
