PENINSULA ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Peninsula Road Board was held on Saturday last, all the members, with the exception of Messrs Smail and Hooper, being present. The minutes of the former meeting were read aud confirmed. Several vouchers were passed and paid. Tenders were then opened for works in the Anderson's Bay subdivision. For Anderson's Bay and Vauxhall Road, that of Mr Peter M'lutyre's was accepted, and for the alterations on the road leading to Tomahawk, the tender of Messrs Henderson and Fitzgerald. The committee appointed to examine the North-East Harbour Beach Road reported having examined the same, and found that a road line from Mr Hooper's gate to the new road had been cut at a very acute angle across the old road, so leaving a sheer precipice of over 12ft, and thereby cutting off all access thereby to the properties of Professor M 'Gregor and Mr Proctor. They also reported haying examined the other end of the deviation, and found that where the two roads meet the old road had been so cut into as to leave little over four feet of it remaining. They, therefore, recommended that the services of a surveyor

be obtained to lay off the utmost boundary of the road line at Mr Hooper's section, and that steps be taken to repair the damage done by Mr Hooper by deviating the road inwards as far as the road line will allow, and where there is uot sufficient width, by filling up the cutting. The Board unani-" mously adopted the report, and appointed Messrs Sim and Hunter inspectors for the North-East Harbour subdivision, with full power and instructions to carry out the repairs, &c, to the road as recommended by the committee. A long discussion then took place regarding a sum of over £60 of subsidised rates which has been withheld by the Superintendent to purchase a road to Mr William Braid. The clerk was instructed to write and demand that the money in question be paid in to the credit of the Board without any further delay. Messrs Someryille and Nichol were appointed inspectors in the Anderson's Bay subdivision. After various notices of motions, &c, being received, the meeting broke up.
