WHITEBAIT.
THE NEW REGULATIONS. "The*-whitebait fishing regulations are for-final consideration, and it is hoped to' stated'the Minister of Marine, Hon. J. 13. Dcrnuld, in reply to a question by Mr. W. 11. Field (Otaki) in the House of Representatives on Wednesday. • "Having regard to the fact that in some districts the fishing season has already commenced, it may not be reasonable to bring the whole of the regulations into force immediately. It is proposed, therefore, that some of tha regulations, the bringing into operation of which might otherwise inflict some. hardship, should be suspended from operation until next' season. "It should be understood that while the primary objective of the regulations Is" the preservation and, it is hoped, the re-establishment of these fisheries to .their former pleutitude, so far as that is possible under the changed natural conditions,- it is necessary that the changes proposed should be brought about in a way that is reasonable and fail' to those concerned.''
