SENTENCE ON MANLY.
LITE IMPRISONMENT. The sentence of death passed upon Herbert Frederick Manly, who was .r"»uud .guilty of murder at Wanganui, lias been commuted to imprisonment for life.
The case was considered at a meeting of the Executive Council presided over by His Excellency the Governor-General yesterday, when the decision Dot to 'carry out the death sentence was .'cached. " The announcement was made later by the acting-Prime Minister, Hon. B. A. Hansom.
