After the loyal toast had been proposed by the Chairman and the anthem sung, Mr M. O'Brien was asked to make a presentation to the guest. Mr O'Brien, m one of his characteristic speeches, expressed regret that Mr Joyce Wd9 leaving, and remarked upon the good work the guest had rendered iimll patriotic movements. lie asked him to accept a valuable gold watch as a token of appreciation of the services lie had rendered to the town and district. The remarks of the Chairman and MiO'Brien were heartily endorsed by Messrs Brooker, Bulman, Wesney, Smith and Marshall, after which the gue3t'e health, proposed by Ntr A. Bulman, was drunk with musical honours. Mr Joyce suitably repliod, thanking them for the present, and stating that he would treasure the gift. The singing of the National Anthem terminated a pleasant gathering.
