OTAUTAU STOCK SALE.

The monthly stock sale was held m tho Otautau Saleyards on Friday. There was a poor attendance, while the yarding was probably the lowest of sheep on record. The general shearing operations ii vogue at present, is the reason for the exceedingly small dimensions of the sale.

Sheep— There were six pens yarded, totalling 232. Of these, Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold 112 ewes and lambs on laccount of Mr J Laidlaw at 10s 2d ; Southland Parraers c Co-op., 20 fat ewes on account of Mr Jas. Mollison at lie 3d, 26 fat wethe;- ... behalf of the same seller at 15s, and 24 fat ewes at 10s lOd ; The National Mortgage and Agency Co. sold 13 fat wethers and ewes on behalf of Mr E. Chilton at 15s 3d. Cattle.— Messrs J. E. Mills and Son report a good sale as follows ;— Fat cow at £7, 5 steers at £5 a-piece, fat cow at £7, 5 yearling steers at £2 15s, and 5 heifers at £3 19s. The National Mortgage and Agency Co. report as follows .—Sales : Milch cow at £7 and £8, 23 yearlings and steers on account qf Mr John Findlay at £3 per head. The prices realised were very sound. We passed milch cows at up to £8. The Southland Farmers' Co-op. report as follows : We sold fat bullocks at £6 10s, £8 5s and £8 17s |6d. Henderson and Co. sold steers at £4 lis, 3 cows at £4 2s 6d, milch cows' at £3 15s, £3 19s, and £5 is, one heifer £3 ss, and two-year-old Ayrshire bull at £3 17s.
