OPUNAKE PLAY-READERS
THREE PLAYS PRESENTED WELL RECEIVED The usual interested audience attended the fortnightly reading held last Monday evening in the Parish Hall. TJ ree one-act plays were presented and were well received. The first, “The Man from the Sea,” told of a strange adventure befalling a honey-moon couple, stranded by car trouble in a deserted cottage. The east was “Sally Fallow,” Miss Morris; “John Farlow,” Mr. Somervell; ‘.‘The Man from the Sea,” Mr. Warren ;• “Maggie Wishart,” Miss Watt,. The second play of the evenwas a comedy" “Ho Tears for Henry,” with a cast as follows: “Airs. Marsden,” Miss Geary; “Anna,” Airs. J. Stronge; “Jane,” Aliss Eagles; “Henrietta,” Alias Wilkins; “Dr. Marian Lome,” Aliss Sampson. A touch of the supernatural was provided by the tliird play, “The Amazed Evangelist.” This play tells of the encounter with the Devil and bis witchcraft, bv i young couple seeking a qufeT holiday in a lonely cottage in Scotland. The cast was: “A AViteh,” Airs. Snell; “John Bartholomew,”. Airs. Watt; “ The Devil,” Air. Somervell; “Will and Aggie,” Air. AALirren and Aliss Sampson; “The Rev. Lachlan AlcLaelilan,” Air. Gifford; “Annie Frazer, a Scotch Lass.” Aliss Peick. The three producers in order ,vc re; Airs. Jillett, Aliss Sailin' "in and Mrs. Alalcolm.
