Complaints regarding the nondelivery of postal packets received hy the Post and Telegraph Department during the year ended March 31 last totalled 7,472, stated the animal report of the department presented in the House. The report added that in 3,054 cases the articles were traced or accounted for satisfactorily. Tn 3,518 cases, representing 0.00125 of the total number of articles posted during the year, the manner of the disposal of the postal packets could not he determined.

The purpose of the Taranaki Mobile X-Pav Unit’s survey of the district is the early detection of any disease of the chest, including - Tuberculosis, and conseouently their prompt and efficient treatment. All examinations are entirely voluntary and the results of the examinations are strictly confidential. It is a free service, of course, and residents should make full use of the opportunity to receive an X-ray cheek when the unit visits Opunake on August 19th and 20th. Another very successful week has been experienced in the progress of the national savings movement, with 825 places having obtained their individual quotas and by each of the 20 postal districts attaining its full district weekly quota. Palmerston Xnrth is the latest postal district to subscribe its annual quota for the current financial year, increasing to seven the number of such successful districts.
