HERD IMPROVEMENT
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION TESTING RECORD An increase in the number of cows recorded in the past season bv the Taranaki Herd Improvein ent As sociation, compared with the previous season, was reported by the chairman, Mr. G. H. Bell, at the annual meeting of the association at Stratford on Mondav. The figure, which was a record, was 31.782 for 1946-47, compared with 29,162 for .194546. The total figures for the" season for the 25 groups in the association, comprising 544 herds wpre: Cows tested twice or more, 31.782.: cows charged for, '31,118; cows recorded 100 days or more, 31.247; average pounds of milk, 5,135;. average test, 5.3; average pounds of fat, 273.08; average number of days, 255. Retiring directors re-elected were: Messrs. W. -T. 'Woolford, H. E. Johnson. A. M. Walter, R. G. Yerry. Mr. A. J. Tunbridg© was re-elected auditor.
