WAIMATE LEADING COASTAL TOPS £IOOO This week's final voting figures disclose the fact that over £IOOO (80,725 votes) has been raised in the area and the Wainiate district candidate, Miss Alison Mead, becomes rulingCoastal queen for the week with a total of 23,456 votes. Opunake is next with just under 23,000 votes and Rahotu and Okato follow in that order. (Opunake's share will be divided between Qaonui, Opunake and Pihama), and should amount to quite a considerable sum. Next week the Opunake programme is a big one. Tomorrow a married v. single Rugby game is to be played and in the evening a gala night will be he.ld at Oaonui and a house party at Mr. and Mrs. C. Burton's residence, Opunake. On Monday a grand Euchre Party, with Bridge and Hah Jong will be held in St. Patrick's Hall, while next Friday St. Pat's Hall will again be the scene of a big night of fun. CARD EVENING QUEEN CARNIVAL FUND A flag five-hundred evening was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. Billing, Rahotu, to raise queen carnival funds. First prizewinners were Mrs. H. Barron, Mrs. F. Billing, Mr. L. Billing and Mr. 11. Brewer, and consolation prizes went to Mrs. L. Billing aiid Messrs. D. Rangi, J. Field and W. Waswo. Competition winners were Mrs. W. Waswo, Miss N. .Williams and Mrs. F. Billing. Mrs. J. Nielsen and Mrs! H. K. Nielsen were hostesses at a flag five-hundred evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nielsen in aid of queen carnival First prizes were won Mrs. H. Hamill. Mrs. T. Gilhoolv. Mr. J. Field and Mr. B. Bi'onhv. Consolation prizes went to Mrs. H. Nielsen, Mrs. L. Wilson. Mr. L. Baker, and Mr. Anderton. Competition winners were Mrs. C. Peuwarden and Messrs. E. Corrie. G. Dewdorey, L. Cederstrom and T. Dodunski.
