CHILDREN QUALIFY

FOR SWIMMING AWARDS SEASON’S GRAND TOTAL Over 50 children, from the secondary and primary classes of the Opunake District High School and St. Joseph’s Convent qualified on Thursday for swimming- certificates by test conducted according- to the requirements of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming' Association hy Mr. A. L. Herd man and Air. H. 0. Donnelly in the Power Board lake. These successes increase the season’s total to a remarkable level and are a tribute to the efficiency of the instructors associated with the receut learn-lo-s'.vim campaign. Swimmers who this year qualified for certificates number Ml, and flm total is made up as follows: 50 yards, 69; 220 vards. 52: 880 yards. 20. For the tests on Thursday, Mr. E. Pickering was boat steward.
