PRESENTATION

MR. A. I. KELLY A complimentary dinner and evening was tendered to Mr. A. I. Kelly at Te Puke on Saturday evening by the Bay of Plenty staff of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Company, Ltd., There was a very large attendance, including several representatives of associated firms, the chair being taken by Mr. L. A. Sisam. In toasting the guest of honour and making a presentation of a wristlet watch and case of Locwe pipes, Mr. Sisam congratulated Mr. Kelly on his rapid promotion with the Loan and Mercantile, and wished him further success with the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Coy. Mr. J. Brown, late manager at Te Puke supported the remarks of Mr. Sisam and stated that he considered Mr. Kelly one of the best auctioneers in the Auckland Province. The toast was enthusiastically honoured. Mi'. H. Langdon, manager for the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co., Ltd, at Te Puke, on behalf of his firm and also Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., also toasted the guest and presented him with a travelling rug. The toast was supported by Mr. Haggle for Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Mr. Stewart, auctioneer for Messrs. Abrahams and Williams, Palmerston North.

Other toasts were: The Firm, proposed by Air. F. K. Reid, replied to by Air. C. 11. Jordan; Bay of Plenty Staff, proposed by Air. A. Strang, replied to by Air. A. N. Davies and Mr. Gillham (Rotorua); Visitors, proposed by Air. MoUgaard, replied to bv Air. Ross ; Absent Friends, proposed by A'lr. Pilcher; The Ladies, proposed by Air. J. Ford and by Air. Garthshaw; Junior Staff, proposed by Air. Crichton, and replied to by Alessrs. R. Fleming and G. Hartshorne; Host and Hostesses, proposed by Air. Me Cullougli, and replied to by Air. Baikie; Air. J. Tanner, proposed by Air. Sisam and replied to by Air. Tanner.

Items were given by Alessrs. V. Best, Dl" Nielson, Armstrong, L. Kerr, Spring, Kelly, and W. Ross. Air. It. Alollygaard made an efficient accompanist and a happy evening was spent by all present. Air. Kelly takes up his new duties at Auckland on Monday next.
