FOURS COMPETITION.

Matches in the first round of the Paeroa Club's full rink competition were played on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, it was late before the games could be started, owing to the teams having to be considerably altered

in some cases on account ot several players being absent. As there were not enough substitutes available, one game had to be dropped altogether, and in other cases only three men played on each side. This was unavoidable to a certain extent, owing to four of the skips being absent at the stars tournament at Te Aroha, but if the competition is to be a success it will be necessary for some alteration in the method of play to be made. There were several complaints on Saturday about the unsatisfactoiy state or the green, hardly any of the rinks playing true and none of them were by any means "fast." The games played on Saturday resulted as follows : Coote, Ainsworth, Smith, Towers (skip) 26 v. Hewitt, Chester, Evitt, de Castro (skip) 13. . . : . „ Clews, Frogley, Allan (skip) 30 v.
