DRAWN MATCH
Gore And John McGlashan The match between the first elevens of the Gore High School and John McGlashan College' resulted in a draw, but Gore won the first innings honours after an exciting finish. McGlashan carried its overnight score of eight for 129 runs to 154. Gore lost two early wickets but its captain, P. Paulin, retrieved the position with a bright 56 which was by far the best innings of the game. He drove and square cut with power and left few loose balls unpunished. His total included nine 4's. The remaining Gore batsmen, however, found difficulty in countering I. A. Gilkison’s in-swingers and 14 runs were still needed when the eighth wicket fell. B. Heslip and A. Blackie, stayed together until McGlashan’s .first innings total was passed and the side was all out shortly after for 161 runs. Gilkison was McGlashan’s best bowler. • He made the ball swing abnormally and retained fair control. The umpries were Messrs R. Craig and R. T. Hunt. Scores: McGLASHAN COLLEGE
