Two New Zealand Pilots

ONE FROM OAMARU

PA AUCKLAND. July 20. Two New Zealand pilots serving as captains in the British Overseas Airways Corporation have recently completed 1,000,000 miles of flying. They are Captain R, E. Flower, of Oamaru, and Captain A. M. Foster, of Blenheim.

Captain Flower, who now lives in London, was educated at the Waitaki Boys’ High School and joined the Royal Air Force in 1939, serving throughout the war as a pilot. He joined British South American Airways in 1947, and transferred to BOAC in 1949. He now flies Argonaut aircraft on services between Britain and the Far East.

Captain Foster completed his education at the Christchurch Technical College. He joined the RAF in 1938, serving with the New Zealand Squadron in West Africa during the war. He was seconded to BOAC in 1945. He now flies on routes between Britain, Africa, and the Middle East. His mother lives in Christchurch.
