INVESTIGATION URGED
Hospital Management PA WELLINGTON, May 15. The Petone Borough Council is to ask the Minister ,of Health, Mr Watts, to set up a commission to investigate hospital management. The objective is to obtain an easing of the “ s financial drain on the ratepayers of the country.” Sponsoring the motion, Cr W. F. Gill said everybody agreed that hospitals were a first necessity but there was a feeling that hospital boards, being sure of a fixed income, were in a position of too great security in planning their expenditure. The need for an investigation was shown by the fact that in 1940-41 the Wellington board’s maintenance expenditure was £377 a bed and the maintenance expenditure estimated for this year was £926 a bed.
