HELSINKI OLYMPICS

AustraHa To Send Record Team SYDNEY, May 15. The Australian Olympic Federation has approved a record team of 169 competitors and officials to go to the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki. The Games will be held between July 19 and August 3. The cost of sending the team is estimated at £130,000 approximately £BOO for each competitor or official. This year's Australian team to the Empire Games was 168.

The final selections will be made by the federation in March, 1952, but the task of raising the money will begin at once. The States have been allotted quotas totalling £'Bo,ooo, and it is expected that the rest will be met by Government grants. Fifteen sports will be represented in the team, which will include a water polo team but no eight-oar crew. There will be 17 officials at least, and this number may be increased, because of the experience needed for the 1956 Games at Melbourne.
