HARRIER RUNS
Civil Service.—The Railway Cup race and Colts’ 880 Yards Championship were held at Forbury Park on Saturday. A large field contested the Railway Cup race, which resulted in a win for B. Mayfield. off the 2min lOsec mark. R. Wilkinson was second and R. Gosney third. The time was 22min Bsec. G. Burns, off 30yds, won the Colts' 880 Yards Championship from K. Clearwater, who was off scratch, and L. Pearce. Caversham.—A field of 31 contested the Three - mile Vice - presidents’. Handicap Race for the Morris Cup, held on a course from St. Clair to Anderson’s Bay Cemetery. Results:—R. Cain 1, M. Hair 2, A. McGregor 3. Fastest times: P. Sidon (16min 6sec) 1. G. Dumble (16min 16sec) 2. J. Sherwood (16min 25secj 3. Celtic United.—The course of the run, held from St. Bernadette’s School, led through Mornington to Burnside and then back around Corstorphine. Results:— Colts: O. De Jeux 1, J. Riddell 2. Slow pack: L. Walker 1, K. Walls 2, L. Tucker 3. Fast pack: F. Cameron 1, J. Gray 2. E. Cameron 3. Anglican.—The run was held from the home of the president of the club, Mr W. W. Burridge, at Berwick. Results:— Slow pack: G. Armstrong 1, A. C. Marett 2, P. Wichman 3. Fast pack: S. Pledger 1, R. Lockhart 2, B. Cowie 3. Mornington.—The run was held from Jamieson Hall, Maori Hill, and three packs were formed, all of which ran in the Leith Valley and Pine Hill area. No run home was held by the slow pack, but prominent throughout the afternoon were W Harris and G. Bennet. Results:—Colts: I. Purton 1, R. Harris 2, J. Armstrong 3. Fast pack: A. Jelley 1, B. Sinclair 2, R. Bennet 3.
