Cement Loading Dispute PA WELLINGTON, May 12. Both the port employers and employees failed today in appeals before the Special Disputes Committee m Wellington against the decision of the Waterfront Industry Commission involving the ship King Neptune at Auckland. , , , ~ The union’s appeal was based on trie contention that in accordance with the terms of the contract for working overseas ships there should be eight men to each gang handling cement being loaded into railway trucks instead of four, as ruled by the commission. This contention was not upheld. , . .. , The Port Employers' Association s basis of appeal was that while the commission’s decision provided for four men to each gang, the contract price per ton was based on the theoretical strength of eight men, and payment was made accordingly. The appeal on this point failed. The Disputes Committee comprised Judge Dalglish (chairman), Mr T. Hill (for the employees) and Mr T. S. Marchington (for the employers).
