Rec 8 p.m. LONDON, May 10. The English test batsman, R. Simpson, scored the first double century of the season plaving for Notts against Glamorgan. Rain interfered with all county matches. Results:— - Notts: First innings, 352 (Simpson not out 230). Glamorgan: First, five for 149 (Jones 72). Match drawn. Sussex: First, sgven for 44G, declared (Cox not out 165). Somerset: First, 184 (J. Oakes five for 68, C. Oakes five for 36); followed on, 138 (Cornford five for 45). Sussex won by an innings and 124 runs. Warwick: First, 165 (Goddard six for 48); second, none for 25. Gloucester: First, five for 197 declared (Emmett, not out, 93). Match drawn. Leicester: First, 158 <Pollard four for 42); second, nine for 119 (Berry five for 33). Lancashire: First, six for 266, declared. Match drawn. Northants: First, three for 49. versus Surrey. Match drawn. Middlesex: First. 103. Hampshire, first, three for 209 (Rogers 75). Hampshire won by seven wickets. (Under one-day match rules.) Cambridge versus Yorkshire, abandoned.
