Teachers’ Organisations DISCUSSED BY TECHNICAL SECTION PA WELLINGTON, May 10. Proposals for the unification of the major teachers’ organisations in New Zealand were discussed in committee at today’s session of the annual conference of the New Zealand Technical School Teachers’ Association. Three remits are before the conference: (1) That the association should unite with the New Zealand Secondary School Teachers’ Association on the basis of a draft constitution placed before the conference; (2) that the Technical Teachers’ Association should unite with the New Zealand Educational Institute on the basis of a draft constitution; and (3) that' the association should . unite with the Secondary Association and the New Zealand Educational Institute together, but not separately. A suggestion that the New Zealand Educational Institute should rescind its policy that the school leaving age be raised to 16 was approved at the annual conference of the institute today. It was decided to bring to the notice of the Minister of Education, Mr Algie, the institute’s opinion that “two years of post-priniary education be obligatory for all pupils unless exemption be granted by the senior inspector.”
