BOY SUFFOCATED
Buried Under Sand At Karitane A 15-year-old Dunedin schoolboy was suffocated when he was buried by a fall of sand while digging for a rabbit in the sandhills at Karitane about noon yesterday. He was Donald Ewen Cameron, who resides with his parents, Mr and Mrs E. P. Cameron, at 46 Cargill street, and was spending his school holidays at Karitane. After the accident occurred a 12-year-old boy who was with Cameron attempted to dig him out, and. failing, raced to cribs about three-quarters of a mile away for assistance. Twq men managed to get the boy out and applied artificial respiration, and, with the aid of Dr R. W. Edgar, of Karitane, attempts were made unavailingly for two hours to revive him.
An inquest for the purposes of identification will be opened in Dunedin this morning.
