Hillside Workers’ Demand The mass meeting of Hillside members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants also passed a resolution requesting the Federation of Labour to “ wipe its slate clean ” of the trouble with the Waterside Workers’ Union. The statement issued to the Daily Times by the secretary of the society, Mr E. W. Wilson, ststodt “That this mass meeting of Hillside ASRS members is deeply concerned with the position that has arisen from the Federation of 'Labour Conference and in the interests of industrial unity asks the National Executive to make representations to the federation and the Trade Union Congress to wipe the slate clean. Failing this, we strongly recommend to the National Executive to give consideration to disaffiliate from the federation and affiliate with the Trade Union Congress.”
