MAGISTRATE’S COURT
Pleading guilty by letter to being in possession of liquor in the vicinity of a dance hall, Stanley George Meikle was fined £7 10s and costs by Mr J. G. Warrington, S.M., at a sitting of the Oamaru Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon. • " On the dav in question I was going home to Christchurch at the request of the police because my home had been ransacked by burglars,” wrote Nicholas Peters, in answer to charges of exceeding 30 miles an hour in a restricted area and also of overtaking within 30 feet of a pedestrian crossing. On the first charge he was fined 40s and costs (10s) and on the second charge 30s and costs (10s).
