REDUCTION IN LIVESTOCK CHARGE

Previous Statement Incorrect PA WELLINGTON, May 8. Railway charges for the carriage of timber and livestock are to be increased by 20 per cent, and 12J per cent, respectively, irrespective of mileage. In a statement issued on Sunday night by the Minister of Railways, Mr Goosman, it was stated that the increase was 20 per cent, for both timber and livestock. The correction to the rate for livestock was announced today by the Railways Department.
